Intellect IT team cook up a storm for residents

Intellect IT (I-IT) has been in business for quite a few years and in recent times decided it was time to give something back to the community, given the success of the business since its inception. One way to do that has been to support Ronald McDonald House (RMH) with the free supply of IT infrastructure, support and services.

So to that end, I-IT has provided to RMH free hardware, software and support services to enable it to more efficiently run its amazing service to residents of the House. But I-IT goes one step further and from time to time, provides a fully supplied and free cook-up so that the residents can have the benefit and enjoyment of a home-cooked meal, a glass of wine and a bit of ?external? company and conversation to help them take their minds off the often difficult medical cases that bring them to the House and Monash Medical Centre children?s wing.

Thursday 31st July was the night a real storm blue in to Melbourne and the temperature dropped from 19c to 11c in a matter of minutes! Seven members of the I-IT team were at that point en route to RMH down at Clayton.

The lads were on their way to cook up tea for the residents and families staying at the house that week. It turned out to be a gesture well received as they more often than not have to make do with quickly cooked up simple meals or sometimes take-away.

The lads prepared a great spread of main & dessert comprising of steak & sausages with salads, broccoli, and potato gratin bake. The steaks had been supplied by HW Greenham & Sons, purveyors of top quality meats to some of the best restaurants in Australia, were absolutely top quality and cooked to perfection by Stephen Allen. Roy Solterbeck prepared a brilliant apple strudel and David Longva excelled himself with the potato gratin bake and freshly baked choc chip cookies!

What with juices, and red and white wine thrown in, the residents were delighted. Nickie Barlow, CEO at RMH, called the following morning to say that the families were still talking about it and described it as ?a truly magnificent meal?!

The IT-T team was represented by Stephen, Roy, David (Longva), Pradeep, Simon (Green), Greg and Jim. The lads were delighted with the outcome of their efforts and really enjoyed meeting the residents and seeing their appreciation of the gesture.

A good time was had by all and we look forward to visiting RMH again and cooking up another storm!
